The last and most interesting of our three Vernaccia wines from Panizzi in San Gimignano, the Riserva is made the best selection of grapes, from one single vineyard called Villa delle Rose, located at Larniano. Straw yellow colour. Expressive with aromas of flowers, walnut, grapefruit, melon, a hint of vanilla and a mineral character. A wine of character, complex, concentrated, savoury and mineral. Well balanced with ripe fruit and acidity, with a long persistent finish. During a recent visit to this vineyard, we tried some older back vintages which demonstrated how well the Riserva can age - up to 15 years with amazing Grand Cru Burgundy like complexity. Highly recommended wine to drink a couple young and tuck away the rest for a few years..
